When Schlosserbub, a rapidly growing metal workshop, were about to replace their two-year-old Chinese plasma table (even after just two years of use, they wanted to change due to a lack of availability on spares, aftersales back up and the difficult and often inaccessible software on the machine) they used a Google search to find them a plasma machine best suited to their needs.
Mainly cutting steel parts, but with the requirement to cut aluminium and stainless steel too, they looked at competitors but found that the Swift-Cut table presented itself as the best value for money product on the market. They chose the Swift-Cut Pro 2500 water table due to its affordability, and they use the table regularly, often for more than three days a week. They are already seeing the time saved due to quicker reaction times and estimate that the machine will be an investment that pays off for them in under three years. When asked how easy he found the table to use, Georg Blaas of Schlosserbub made this interesting comparison,
“I am an Apple user as I really like the user-friendly way of Apple – I believe that the Swift Cut Pro machine is as easy to use as a smartphone – plug and play without any hassle.”
Adding,“It was super easy to install, I believe nearly everybody can do it on his own. I had half a day’s training and since then I’m able to cut independently.”
It is something they started together several years ago, using handheld plasma cutting methods and selling their wares at fairs in different parts of Austria, as well as fulfilling bespoke orders. However, as their business grew and their reputation spread, cutting with a handheld plasma was slowing them down and it became obvious that they needed to find a way to speed up their processes. Keeping it in the family, it was their son who came across Swift-Cut during an internet search. Initially reluctant to invest a large amount in a machine, they had the opportunity to visit a Swift Cut customer in Austria where they were given an introduction to the machine. Martin was impressed not only by the obvious value for money of the machine but by the service he received from Swift-Cut when he was in the decision stage. The prompt reaction times, and influx of info helped Martin make his choice. Martin said, “The Swift Cut Pro 2500 WT is just the perfect size in our new workshop and the PMX45XP is sufficient to cut my decoration items as the max. material thickness we cut is 6 mm.”Martin admits that he was suspicious when the Swift-Cut rep told him how easy it was to use, and he was concerned he would find it hard to pick up. The reality is, when he realised how intuitive the software is, he was cutting metal before they even had their training.“The machine is super easy to use, it was easy to install, and I can get all my parts cut within minutes. As well as that, the support from the Swift-Cut guys in the Netherlands is great.”
Perhaps one of the biggest benefits of having in-house capabilities is the fact that the time they have saved has meant they can produce more. It only takes two days in the workshop to cut all the items they sell at the weekends. When they were cutting ‘by hand’ the same amount of products could take between two to three weeks.“We purchased the machine about a year ago and since then our business has grown tremendously. It makes work so much easier, we have gained flexibility and we’re saving a lot of time. We believe we have doubled our turnover since the acquisition of the machine.”“I would recommend Swift-Cut to any other company in the sheet metal processing industry.”
